Baked With Love
My name is Blanca Torres. I am a mother, a coffee enthusiast, and a baker. I was raised between New York City and the beautiful island of Puerto Rico. My family owned two bakeries in Luquillo and that is where I learned all about the sweet pastries Puerto Rico has to offer. Having the opportunity to bake in my family’s bakery was just the learning experience I needed then to do what I’m doing now. Watching our customers enjoy my pastries was truly rewarding in so many ways.
In addition to baking, I worked for an affordable housing management and development company in the Bronx for 13 years. I ultimately held the position of VP of operations up until June of 2021. This job experience taught me so much professionally, such as team building, consistency, and operational management; these skills I will implement into Bee’s Pastry Café. Supporting my pastry café means you support an independent woman-owned and operated establishment where everything is made with love!

Blanca's Journey From NY + Puerto Rico to El Paso, Texas
After moving from New York City, she spent over a decade on the beautiful island of Puerto Rico, where everyone is either friends or family.
Puerto Rico is the place where she was introduced to authentic sazón and delicious food. It was here where she learned to make and bake several delectable and traditional Caribbean pastries. This is where her passion for baking began. After school, Blanca enjoyed an empanada or tostada with mantequilla with a Coca-Cola slushy from the local grocery store or bakery. Weekends at the beach were spent eating pinchos and drinking a piragua de frambuesa! Life is all about joyous memories.

The Story Behind BeesPastryCafe
Although challenging, Blanca bought a home and moved herself and her two teenage children, Bianca and Brandon to El Paso, Texas. It was During this transitional phase that she realized that it was time to pursue her lifelong dream of opening her own pastry café. Her Café is a unique blend of Nuyorican flavors and offers the best coffee in town. Her children’s love of her homemade pastries assures Blanca that they will be equally as delicious to you and your family as well.
Our journey has only begun, but I know that with Gods continual direction and guidance it will be a great beginning to many greater things.
